Following closure of the airfield, the ILS was removed and
relocated to RAF Topcliffe. The 2434 Sqn ATC compound was fenced off so it looks
like some military related presence will remain, at least for a while. The
airfield was formally put up for sale in early 2014, and bids closed in Autumn
The airfield was bought by Chris Makin, a local entrepreneur, in Dec 14 / Jan 15. Since then, a large amount of renovation work has been carried out on various parts of the airfield.
The future is looking far more positive than it has done for many years, with new plans for making the airfield a sustainable proposition for years to come being regularly announced (see News page).
